Episode #29 - DiscRevolt.com and new models for selling downloads
DOWNLOAD THE SHOW (12 Mb MP3 file)
Back from PodCamp NYC where I took delivery of FREE cards from a new service called DiscRevolt.com. In this episode I talk about this service, and how I hope it represents the beginning of more creative and interesting ways to sell music downloads rather than only at a (too high!) fixed price per song.
If you do decide to sign-up for DiscRevolt, please mention my band Uncle Seth in the "How Did You Hear About Us" field.
Music:
Sebastien Gomez - "Just The Way You Are"

Jay,
This is an interesting tool. I'm with you. Not sold on the idea. Especially if you're giving them away for free. If I'm giving away free downloads, I'm going to send them to my band's site (where they can sign up for my email list). But as a way to sell to the iPod generation, I think this is an interesting approach. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Dave! What's most interesting to me here is opportunity to make digital sales at gigs, and to set whatever price you want. I'm giving away cards at this point just 'cus I got them for free and I think it's an interesting idea that people should know about, but ultimately I'd want to charge for them.
One thing I made a point of doing with the cards was put our regular URL in large friendly letters on the front. Hopefully that drives some traffic to the site as well.

Jay,
I found another one, however there is very little info on how to use their system, only what it does. You have to request a quote.
